PHILIAE from Hamburg in Germany are an Industrial Rock act that was founded in 2001, has released the albums „Scapegod“ and „Propaganda“ as well as the EP „This is the Dawn of a new Error“ and can be called a real DIY band.
The artwork, the production, the label work, the band take care of it all and constantly moves forward. This can not only be seen in the fantastic reviews the got for all of their releases but also in the support tours the band did for acts like the legendary KRUPPS or the shooting stars of JESUS ON EXTASY.
As early as 2003 the German Goth Magazine Zillo prognosticated: “PHILIAE have to be big in no time, if there is any rest of justice left in the music business!” Although the writer may has know that this was never the case, this early success gained shows with acts like Within Temptation, Skinny Puppy, Umbra et Imago or Alien Sex Fiend for the band.
The change of the main vocalist in 2004 went along with changes in the musical style that gave the band more individuality, followed by the release of the EP “This is the Dawn of a new Error” in 2006. Again magazines went nuts. Astan Magazin wrote in 2006 “If PHILIAE are able to keep up with their own standards they are one of most important bands of the next years.” With the release of the successor “PROPAGANDA” the German press were in agreement about the fact that PHILIAE are outstanding in what they do. “PHILIAE’ have the potential to establish a new self confidence among the German Rock scene” wrote Piranha magazine and Uncle Sallys said: “PROPAGANDA open up one’s horizon in an inspiring and breathtaking way!” Zillo magazine voted them for newcomer of the month and the KRUPPS took the band on their reunion tour, with featured a sold out show in the K17 club in Berlin and led to many more successful shows for PHILIAE.
